Academic English Program
Students who want to enroll to the MA in Islamic Studies program at RGS and have not scored high enough on English Proficiency Exams (6 on the IELTS or 60-78 on the TOEFL) need to take an assessment test (oral proficiency interview + written exam) from RGS.
*Even if a student meets the English requirements for RGS, they may still be required to take a proficiency exam (IELTS or TOEFL) for Charles Sturt University.
Students who need to improve their English will be placed in one of the two levels according to the result of the assessment test:
Academic English I – Registration will Open Again in Spring 2020
*The duration of study in each level is 8 weeks.
Academic English Program at RGS follows Tochon’s Deep Approach (student centered, motivational, speaking oriented, project based, easier and faster progress).
Students who have not scored a 6 on the IELTS or 60-78 on the TOEFL will be required to take the RGS English Assessment test.
Assessment test will consist of two parts:
- Oral proficiency interview (OPI)
- Written exam
Academic English Program Director, Nuriye Aksar, will contact prospective students in order to schedule their individual assessment test. Students will then either be granted a waiver or placed in one of the two levels according to their test results.
The Academic English Program at RGS will be taught in two levels and each level will last for 8 weeks.
Students will meet with the instructor twice for 90 minute sessions in each week.
