Respect Graduate School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania seeks an exceptional candidate for the position of Assistant Professor in Islamic Studies. This role involves developing and teaching graduate courses in traditional Islamic sciences, mentoring and advising students, conducting research, contributing to the life and work of the institution through committee participation, and contributing to the wider academic community.

Teaching graduate courses in traditional Islamic sciences, which may include Introduction to Quranic Studies and Hadith. Conducting original research in Islamic Studies, publishing scholarly journal articles, book chapters, or books, and presenting at academic conferences. Contributing to the development of new courses and programs related to Islamic Studies. Mentoring students and advising them on their courses and academic and professional careers. Attending Convocation and Commencement Exercises. Participating on institutional committees. Contributing to institutional effectiveness through collaborative work on assessing programmatic and course student learning outcomes. Supervising MA theses or final research papers/projects.

Must be willing to live within daily driving distance to campus in Bethlehem, PA.
The successful candidate for the position of Assistant Professor must have an earned PhD in Islamic Studies from an accredited university by August 15, 2025. At least one year of teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level is required. An exceptional candidate who is well advanced as ABD may be hired at the Lecturer level. Acceptable teaching experience in a college or university includes that of adjunct instructors and/or teaching assistants. Essential qualities include a passion for student success, demonstrated experience in mentoring/advising students, demonstrated strong potential and commitment to excellence in scholarly research, and enthusiasm for the mission of Respect Graduate School and its Master of Arts in Islamic Studies.
Expertise in Qur’anic Studies, Hadith Studies, or Islamic Jurisprudence, and demonstrated proficiency in comprehending and analyzing classical Arabic texts. A record of publications and conference presentations. Strong demonstrated potential for excellence in research, teaching, and student mentorship, including at least one year of documented undergraduate or graduate teaching experience in Islamic Studies with positive student evaluations in on-campus (in-person) and online modalities. Enthusiastic support for the mission of Respect Graduate School and the goals of the Master of Arts in Islamic Studies program.
